Ferrite
materials are referred to as "hard ferrite's" (permanent magnets)
or "soft ferrites" (transformer inductor and suppression cores).
these terms describe their magnetic rather than their physical properties.
Ferrites are magnetic ceramics, typically made from iron oxide combined
with one or more other metal oxides such as nickel, manganese, or zinc
The manufacturing process is similar to most other ceramic process technologies
and includes powder preparation, pressing, sintering and finishing. Ferrite
Blocks can be pressed in block form and then machined into virtually any
shape. A large variety of block sizes, shapes and materials are available
for machining. When very large shapes are required it is often possible
to assemble the finished core from two or more machined parts
